Homemade Decadence Review

I know I'm not the only one who is so over Winter. I hope this storm is the last one!!! Happy Thursday!! This post is going to be on the December Book choice from the Birchblogger Book Club. I was so excited to get a cookbook this time. I love cooking and this book was right up my alley. Let's get into Homemade Decadence by Joy Wilson.

I was literally drooling while flipping through the pages of this book. There are so many recipes for breakfast foods, drinks, cakes, pies and even ice cream!! I got so excited as I was deciding what to make. This is Joy Wilson's second cookbook and I just love it so much!! She is a self taught baker who became a professional and later on a photographer and author. I love the mix of sweet, salty and savory recipes. Some of the items are very interesting like Black Sesame Seed Shortbread and Dirty Chai Tea Lattes. There is something in here for everyone! So far, I have only made two things but I plan on baking a whole lot more! Here are some pictures of the baked goods.

Brown Sugar Cupcakes

Strawberry Shortcake Cookies

Everything is so easy to make and it gives so many tips and tricks to baking. This would be a great housewarming gift, something for a first time baker or someone like me who loves cooking. If you are looking for some new recipes to try, I really recommend this book. You can find this cookbook on Amazon.

So that is it for this book review. What are some of your favorite cookbooks? What do you like to bake? Comment below and let me know. Be safe, stay warm and see you on Sunday. Check out my previous post reviewing Insta Natural Essential Oils.

Happily Ever Johnson:Tastings and Things

The countdown to this wedding is getting real. April is around the corner and the big day will be here soon! I have starting stressing about the small details and hoping we have everything. We got to do the fun stuff recently, food tasting! I know that was the thing we were both looking forward to. We first had our food tasting at the venue. You were able to bring family members to the tasting and you got to experience the full service during the reception and everything on the menu. I liked that everyone was given a paper with a description of all the menu items so you knew what you were eating and take notes about each dish. I found it helpful to have some other people with us so you got an idea of what the majority of guest would like and different opinions about each dish. We narrowed down what dishes we wanted on our menu and they were all so good!

Us after the tasting

My son was super exciting to do the cake tasting with us! He just wanted lemon cake and wanted us to have lemon…

Spring Fashion Trends

For many years I would say that I'm going to NYFW and then forget when it is lol! One day I'm going to make it there lol! Speaking of fashion, today I'm going to share a few Spring Fashion trends that I will most likely be wearing this season. (Images taken from the web)
Vibrant Stripes
I love wearing bright and bold colors when it gets warmer outside. This trend is super fun and such a statement. You can wear this in the office with a bold striped button up or out on the town with a maxi dress.

One Shoulder
I really think this trend is super cute and flirty. I have seen many versions of the one should trend over the years and this one seems to be my favorite. I would probably wear this with a top or dress.

Slogan T-Shirts
I know these have been around forever and this trend to me will never go out of style. There are so many slogans out there, it is hard to keep up with all of them. I do have a few myself and I love how you can dress them up or down.

Happily Ever Johnson: 3 Months To Go!

*Que screaming and running around like a crazy person*  I can't believe we are three months away from the big day!! It seems like yesterday we just got engaged and started making plans and now it is almost here. I'm not freaking out yet (Lies, I am on the inside lol). I just want to make sure we don't forget anything lol. It seems like it is so easy to forget something when just about everything is going on. I'm getting into the swing of things in my new position and most of my focus seems to be there at the moment but I'm making sure to keep up with everything. I recently met with my coordinators (aka My mom, aunts and cousins) to preview the centerpieces. I'm so thankful for them stepping in and helping with the decor and planning. I'll give you guys a sneak peek at the centerpieces but you won't see the full effect of everything until after the big day.

Of course I drew my inspiration from Pinterest. I have spent so many hours on there and found so m…
