J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint Vs. OCC Lip Tar.....possible dupe?

Happy Tuesday!! Did you watch the Grammy's? They were okay this year but had some good performances and I enjoyed watching the Red Carpet. Today I will be comparing J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint to OCC Lip Tars. Let's get into the reviews.

I had the idea to do this post when I received the J.Cat Lip Paint in an Ipsy one month. I wondered if it could be a possible dupe to the popular OCC Lip Tars. It took me a while to get this post going because I don't reach for those lip products as much.

Price

Obviously J.Cat is much less than OCC. The Wonder Lip Paints are 4.99 and the Lip Tars are 18.00. Anyone on a budget would go for the Lip Paints over the Lip Tars. Are you paying for the better quality going the frugal route? I would honestly pay for both but love to catch the Lip Tars at makeup shows because they are offered at a discount. OCC has way more colors and finishes to offer than J.Cat. I couldn't tell by the website if all the Lip Paints have a matte or glossy finish. The Lip Paint I have is a like a matte finish.

Pigmentation

I was so curious to see if the Lip Paint would be as pigmented as the Lip Tar and they are. To me, they have the same consistency and you only need a little bit of the product. I was really surprised when I tried the Lip Paint on how pigmented it was. Here are swatches of both.

Wear Time

This is very important when it comes to any lip product. I love a lip product that I don't have to touch up several times a day and doesn't get dry on my lips. Both of these have amazing wear time but I did have to touch up the Lip Paint only once. Whenever I wear my Lip Tars, it stays all day without any touch ups. I will say the Lip Paint is not drying compared to how the Lip Tars can feel. I do sometimes have to apply some lip balm over the lip tar because they can feel a little drying. Here are pictures of me wearing both products.

Verdict

Overall, I think the Lip Paints and Lip Tars are about the same. They have the same consistency and wear time. The obvious thing is the difference in price and the range of colors that are offered. Would I call this a dupe? Possibly. They are very, very similar in my opinion. If you are on a budget, I would suggest the Lip Paints but if you don't mind spending the extra money, Lip Tars would be the way to go. I was very impressed with the Lip Paint and would purchase more in the near future.

So that is it on my comparison of J.Cat and OCC lip products. Which ones do you own? What are your thoughts? Comment below and let me know. Have a great week and see you Friday!!

I have some exciting news to share but you'll have to wait til Friday. (No not another kid lol)

Is it me or is everyone coming out with a Contour and Highlight palette?? I already know which one I want to try when my no buy is over.

Comments

  1. Great review Andrea. The Lip Paints seem to be similar in texture and pigmentation as the Lip Tars, and for so much less. Thanks for sharing.

Make Beauty Review*

Happy Friday beauty lovers! I hope you have been enjoying Winter again lol! I hope Mother Nature gets it together soon lol. Today I am bringing you another review powered by BrandBacker! *I was sent these products for testing purposes and this is my opinion after using. Let's get into the reviews! *Powered By BrandBacker* I was pretty excited when I was picked for this campaign. I have tried a Make Beauty eyeshadow before and loved it. Honestly, I was expecting the samples to be a little bigger. I was a little disappointed in the lipstick sample, it was hard to use. It kept breaking when I was trying to apply it. Make Beauty is a very new company to me that I was introduced to through Birchbox.  They have just about everything from eyeshadows to contour kits. They also have a line for skincare as well. Alabaster Eyeshadow This shadow on the Make Beauty site is described as a soft eggshell with peach undertones. This shadow is a matte and can be used as a brow

Sometimes its hard.....

You know when you keep thinking of something and you just feel like you have to get it out? That was me before sitting down to write this post. I had something else planned to write but I kept thinking...sometimes its hard and it just evolved from there. We all heard the sayings, life isn't fair, life is hard and so on. Sometimes life can be hard but we don't experience it for long. There are so many things that I want to do but I know I can't do a million things at once. I can't just pick and go anymore, I'm someone's parent now. There are times I want to but I know things have to be planned out now. I will get to those place I want to go, just have to be patient and plan it out. It seems like we focus so much on what is hard about life that we forget about the easy stuff. We forget sometimes about all the good things that happen and to be grateful for getting through those rough patches. You may not like your living situation but you have a roof over
